History and Philosophy
History
What is now Music Centers, Inc. originally started back in 1955 as Lakewood Music. The original president was Kenneth Hall. He ran the company successfully with 4 locations. During that time Gerald "Jerry" Pepos became a partner, managed one of the stores and did repairs for the company. In 1978 he purchased the stores from Mr. Hall and the name was changed to Lakewood Music, Inc.
As the company prospered, employees were hired and new locations were added until it grew to 8 locations and a main warehouse. Because there were stores located throughout the Puget Sound area, no longer just in Lakewood Washington, the company had another name change to the current Music Centers, Inc.
In 1996 with the passing of Mr. Pepos the ownership was assumed by Thomas Anderson who was the general manager at that time. Under Mr. Anderson's guidance the company has added another location, bringing the total number of locations to 9, and a mobile program to serve the surrounding communities.
